Kindred: The Embraced

We're all around you.

After several weeks of fighting my new obsession, I give in. To all who come after me, I give this word of warning:

If you feel safe and content in your current fandom and see no reason to change anything, don't watch Kindred: The Embraced. If you feel drawn at all to old, wise, powerful, gentle, sexy, and misunderstood creatures who exude an enormous sense of menace on many levels, and if you don't want to be distracted from your current fandom, fast-forward over any and all Daedalus scenes. Better yet, don't watch Kindred: The Embraced.

I didn't know and nobody warned me, so I watched it. Once, and again, and again. Since, I've written two fanfics (and anyone who knows how long it normally takes me to finish one damn story can appreciate the level of this new obsession by that alone) and am co-writing a novel length third one which is already over 130 pages. (For anyone who cares, the finished fanfics are archived at fanfiction.net under my pen name ElenaC.)

What am I talking about?

It's a show about vampires. Eight episodes were filmed, and then, to my everlasting regret, the show was canceled. It has received a bit of flak from RPGers because it plays fast and loose with a few rules of the RPG it's based on (Vampire: The Masquerade), but I found it an intensely fascinating world, and Daedalus an intensely fascinating character.

In keeping with my obsessions about Methos and the Phantom, Daedalus combines these two and adds the mystery of the Nosferatu to the mix.

How was I supposed to resist?

If you intend to ignore my warnings, by all means, read on.
